Help us complete sets – updated library view

If you’re new to Zistle, you may not know that our library of almost 2 million cards is populated and updated by the amazing Zistle community. Over the next few months, we’ll be adding new features that make it even easier to add and edit information on Zistle. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible to add information to the library while maintaining the accuracy of the data. Today, we launched an updated version of the library which highlights sets that require action:

Almost Done – You’ll be able to see sets that just need a few more entries to complete the set. Set completion is important because once a set is complete, we can prevent people from inadvertently screwing up the set data by mistake.

Brand spanking new sets - New sets on Zistle need help populating the checklists as well as adding set information. You can now see recently added sets on the individual sports library page.

Sets needing set details – In an effort to add more set details on Zistle, we’re highlighting sets that are still missing key information such as release date, set description and set image.

More to come

We’ll be launching more library features including a newly designed library homepage, ability to clone sets for parallel sets, re-introduction of set experts and more.

If you’re new to the Zistle library, learn more about how to get involved here.

Thanks for adding that.  I’ve just completed the checklist for the 1988 Chef Boyardee Baseball set.

Awesome, thanks!  Do you get a message from Ashley about our new set expert features?  If you log in and become a set expert for the set you can verify that information (and a bunch of other things) yourself.  That way we can easily surface the sets that still need some attention.

      Mr. Aubrey,

I was wondering if you might be able to help? Also, can you put this out there to the Baseball universe? Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon (please read the rest of the email below).

Subject: George Owen III – Minor League Card – 1952 (Globe Printing) Ventura Braves
Hello. I received your name and such from Mr. Bob Lemke’s blogs (2009-2012) and I am sincerely hoping that you can help me? I am looking for information and a baseball card for George Owen III and/or any lead on Minor League Globe Printing Cards from the 1950s.
George played in the minors from 1950-1953. 1950 & 52 California State League (Ventura Braves) – I am looking for this card in this 1952 team set (Card #8)1951 Montreal Quebec (Canada)
1951 Appalachian League – Bluefield 1953 Gulf Coast League playing for Laredo, then Brownsville (not sure if it was mid-season or not?)
      Big State League (time/year unknown)
Anyway as I said, I am on the look out for this card, a team photo or news clipping from any of the above mentioned teams/clubs during that time period.

In the case, that you don’t have any, then perhaps, you might provide a another store or perhaps another private individual, who deals directly with Vintage Minor league cards? These names have come up during my email/phone searches, maybe you might provide contact info for these folk?Bill Weiss (maybe) formerly at Globe Printing in the San Jose, California area? (might be in his 90s?)
update: I understand that Mr. Weiss passed away last year but I am wondering who bought/inherited his vast /Globe Printing card collection?
Jolene Jordan California Collector? The reason being, George had his 86th B-day last month and he has been a great friend of the family since 1966.
I would like to provide him and his family (yes, and myself) with this gift.
Thanks for any help that you may be able to give.
      Yours Sincerely,
      William Harp
