New! Zistle Badges

After the launch of Set Expert last week, we’ve been reminded once again of all of the amazing work that our members do to help us build Zistle and we want to continue to recognize that effort. As most of you know, we initially built ‘contributor points’ as a way to recognize those efforts. While points are great, they don’t really showcase the diversity of work that happens in the library. We’re excited to launch badges to showcase some of the truly unique attributes of the Zistle community – from what types of cards are collected, to trading activity, to library contributions. If you look on your profile, you’ll notice that you will have a badges section with the various badges that you’ve earned to date.

We’ve started with a somewhat small list but we’re definitely going to add more over time. Here are the badges that you can earn as of today.

Badges?!!? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges!!

    heh… I’ve always wanted to say that…

I like the idea – good initiative.

I have a few more ideas for badges…

    - Vintage Collector – Certain number of cards prior to 1980.
    - Set Collector – Certain number of complete sets
    - Player Collector – More than 500 of one player.  This would be a badge you could earn multiple times
    - Player SuperCollector – More than 1000 of one player.  Earning multiples here too would be possible.
    - Team Collector – More than 5000 cards from one team.  Needs to be a pretty high number because of sets, someone might have a lot of a team by happenstance, not because they collect them.
    - Team SuperCollector – More than 10,000 cards from one team.

Thanks!  Those are great ideas.  I anticipate that you will see many of those when we do our next round of badges.

i think the big game hunter badge should be from cards #’d to less than 25. what do you think??

  • Josh

Cool ideas!  Is there a counter somewhere where members can check their progress (on # of photos added, # of flags accepted, etc.)?  If people see they are close to a badge, it might induce a little spurt of activity.

I second the idea of a “team collector” and “player collector” badge.

This might be a stretch but what about each user having a page where all the badges are displayed and the user’s progress on each badge is displayed with a  colored gradient bar that progresses to a different color the closer they come to fulfilling the requirements of that badge.
